Heat Recovery Ventilation

One way to improve the air quality in your home is to install a Heat Recover Ventilator into your home. This item pulls stale, old air out of your home and replaces it with fresh air. This exchange process also moves the heat from the outgoing stream to the incoming stream, which reduces your energy costs. This is especially important if you own a newer home, as they are built to be airtight, or an older home that has had renovations or improvements made. Ensuring your home has proper ventilation reduces the amount of moisture and pollutants that can gather in the air in your home. Excess moisture can cause mold growth in the home and mostly come from the kitchen or bathroom. Pollutants can come from building materials used, or furniture in the home that give off gasses. Manually opening and closing doors or windows to get fresh air can cause energy loss and isn’t very reliable. Most HRV’s also have a filter that keeps pollen and dust from entering the home in the incoming fresh air.

Annual Maintenance

As with most HVAC Equipment, it is recommended to have your HRV Maintenance performed yearly. This includes a full Inspection and Cleaning as well as checking of the filter. You can add on your Annual Maintenance to your Furnace or Air Conditioner Maintenance Agreement at a reduced cost. For more information about our HVAC Maintenance Agreements go here.
